ICSB 2008 Workshop: Systems Biology of the Liver
- Topic:
The liver is the central detoxification organ and the only organ that is
capable of regeneration. Several international consortia apply the Systems
Biology approach to understand the complex behaviour of multiple aspects
of liver biology. This interdisciplinary workshop brings together scientists
from different fields - toxicology, biology, medicine, engineering,
mathematics and physics - who will report their recent results in the
fields of detoxification, regeneration, cell biology and signal transduction
of liver cells. The perspectives of "Systems Biology of the Liver" includes
personalized medicine, improved strategies for targeted intervention,
rational tissue engineering, reduction of animal testing in drug development,
and more efficient clinical testing.
